I’m turning 40 this summer, and I want to celebrate by bringing together a couple of things I love: kayaking and the Lake Okoboji United Methodist Camp. And you can be a part of my summer-long festivities!
First, the kayaking. I want to kayak down the Little Sioux River—a natural gem of northwest Iowa. It’s about a 250-mile journey that’ll take me from Lake Park to Little Sioux, and I’ve taken time off for several weekends in May and June. Join me in person or through the fun of this Facebook page!
Yet, I’d love to celebrate my birthday by raising awareness and money for the Lake Okoboji United Methodist Camp. I’d loved my time at this camp as a child all the way through today, and I’m excited by the vision and plans they have for the future to expand the reach of the LOUMC. Read about their plans here: http://okobojicamp.com/building-project/.
Please consider giving a gift to the camp this summer in honor of my birthday. I’ve set the goal of raising $10,000, and any size gift can make a difference. To make a gift, you can write a check to the LOUMC writing Kayak4Camp in the memo line. Or you can click on the Donate Button above to give electronically!!
I’ll mark the milestones in the journey and the giving with some fun activities on my Kayak4Camp Facebook page.
